Academy Gallery
The Academy Gallery is home to the legendary Michelangelo's David. There are other pieces by Michelangelo housed here as well, including a statue of St. Matthew and the unfinished Slaves piece. You'll also see paintings by Michelangelo's peers as well as a wall filled with plaster casts of various sculptures. Admission is 6.50 Euros for adults and 3.25 Euros for children.

Boboli Gardens
Behind the Pitti Palace are Boboli Gardens, thought to be some of the most spectacular gardens found anywhere. Features of Boboli Gardens include an obelisk from ancient times, beautiful water fountains, lots of gorgeous flora and fauna, and even an amphitheater. Admission costs 3 Euros or 10.50 Euros for a three-day pass which lets you access both the gardens and the palace.

Duomo
The Duomo is part of the Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori. This incredible dome is part of the church along with Giotto's bell tower and is one of the most famous sights in Florence. In this area you'll also find the Santa Reparta excavations. Admission to the church is free, while admission to the excavation site costs 3 Euros.

Museo Archeologico
This museum is home to an amazing collection of treasures that include artifacts and remains from ancient Egypt and Rome. One of the oldest pieces here is the bronze Chimera which dates all the way back to the 4th century B.C. Another famous piece housed here is the Idolino. Admission to the museum costs 4 Euros.

Museo di Storia della Scienza
At this fascinating museum, you'll get to see priceless artifacts like a calculator dating back to the 17th century. Astronomy enthusiasts will love seeing the lens Galileo used to discover four of Jupiter's moons. One of the most macabre yet fascinating exhibits is Galileo's actual middle finger which was taken when he was on his way to Santa Croce.
