If you are preparing to visit the Philippines, here are some quick travel tips that you should know.

  • The Philippines is a warm-climate country. The temperatures usually range from 78 F to 90 F. The average humidity is 77%.
  • The hot and dry months are March through May.
  • June through October are rainy months. If you are visiting the Philippines during these months, be sure to bring rain gear.
  • Should you find yourself at a public market, don’t take the first price given. It’s acceptable and expected to haggle.

  • Remote areas of the Philippines have many insects. Make sure you have insect repellant.
  • Carry around some loose change so you can take local transportation jeepney, tricycle or pedicab.
  • As a general rule, air-conditioned taxis will cost PhP25 per meter.
  • Casual dress is accepted most everywhere, but shorts and slippers might be improper for some hotels and other venues such as churches and office buildings.
  • The summer is a great time to visit the Philippines. There are many festivals, and events taking place during those months.
  • While there are money changing shops around, make things easier on yourself and those you do business with by having Philippines pesos the official currency.
  • Don’t forget to tip. A good rule of thumb is to tip 10%. However, this is up to your own personal taste.
